How to: Isometric Illustration

It is no secret isometric illustration is all over Dribble for some time now. With that, a surge of somewhat complicated and intricate tutorials has emerged, prompting designers to learn how to calculate isometric values ? IN ? THEIR ? HEADS!! I am here to put an end to this. Here is how to “cheat” and create a beautiful isometric illustration with no math what so ever!
Draw your base vector shape
Go to Effect → 3D → Extrude & Bevel
In the dialog, change position to “Isometric top”.
For the sake of keeping this concise, I haven’t showcased all the options you can play with, just know that there are a lot of magical secrets hidden under the “More Options” button. You can also play with the extrude depth, which allows you to control the isometry height. Don’t forget to check “Preview” in order to see the changes taking affect.
Expand and clean up your isometry.
Play with the colours.
The only thing left to do is ARGUABLY the most fun part; pick a dope colour palette and apply it to your illustration to make it come to life.
